Arturo Vidal expressed his anger in response to Thomas Muller, after the Bayern Munich and Germany forward posted a celebratory photo to his Instagram account following his country’s Confederations Cup success.
Muller watched from the comfort of his own home as his compatriots edged Vidal’s Chile to a 1-0 victory in the final in St Petersburg.
And he posted a photo gleefully pointing at the TV screen as Germany celebrated following the win. “We love our game,” he wrote as the caption.
Vidal, who played in the game and throughout the tournament, replied to his Bayern teammate simply with a string of angry emojis, which inevitably caught the attention of fans in the comments section.
The combative midfielder and his teammates were clearly disappointed to have fallen at the final hurdle.
In an Instagram post of his own, Vidal looked to put a positive spin on the defeat alongside a photo of the Chile players in a huddle after the game.
“The strongest people are not the people who win the most but the people who never give up when they lose!!!” he wrote.
Vidal had a chance to level the scores late in the game, but blazed his effort over the bar, before Angelo Sagal did the same soon after.
